LALAL.AI Vocal Remover Now Available As A FREE iOS App

LALAL.AI Vocal Remover tool is now available as a FREE iOS app (with the Android version coming soon). Previewing the stem separation for free is possible, but an in-app purchase is required to export the stems as audio files.

We covered LALAL.AI back in 2021, and for anyone who missed it, here’s a short recap.

LALAL.AI is an AI-powered stem separation service that does everything from basic vocal separation to isolating individual instruments from any track.

Now, LALAL.AI is available as a mobile app for iOS with an Android version in the pipeline. The service is free to try, but paid plans are available if you want to download the stems.

The app allows users to extract vocals, instrumentals, and eight instruments, including drums, acoustic/electric guitar, bass, piano, and strings, from any track.

We might want to grab an instrumental version of a track for many reasons, whether for karaoke or something more professional. Similarly, extracting clean vocals from a track is something we might do for remix purposes, and it hasn’t always been the most straightforward task.

As I’ve said previously, LALAL.AI wasn’t 100% perfect all the time, but it was very good, and I hoped it would continue to improve. So, I think it’s only fair that I say the extracted vocal samples I hear are getting more impressive all the time.

Here’s a quick overview of the stem separation process in the LALAL.AI app. The first step is to upload an audio file and select the type of audio.

You can choose between eight different types of processing. If you want to extract the vocals and the instrumental from a full mix, the “Vocal and Instrumental” mode is the best option.

You can also extract individual instruments like drums and guitars or even reduce the noise in a voice recording.

Once you’re happy with the selection, LALAL.AI will process your audio and provide a preview so that you can evaluate the quality before processing the entire audio file.

If you’re happy with the results, the next step is to process the audio. LALAL.AI will process the entire file and provide the stems that can be downloaded as audio files.

An in-app purchase is required to enable stem download. You can buy one of the two Premium plans (25 minutes of audio for $4.99 or 90 minutes for $14.99).

Having an app that can produce that level of separation so effortlessly should be appealing to DJs, producers, and music makers of all levels.

The ability to isolate specific instruments is helpful, too. For example, if you’re a guitarist, you might want to isolate a solo to learn it or remove it so you can add your own.

Another handy feature of the app is background noise removal. It could be cleaning up recordings from a gig to drown out background chatter or removing background music so you can hear someone speak.

The LALAL.AI app supports audio and video in MP3, OGG, FLAC, WAV, AVI, MP4, AIFF, and AAC formats. Stems are exported in the same format as the original file.
