Great news for composers and orchestral string lovers alike, Heavyocity has just announced the release of Foundations – Staccato Strings for Kontakt Player.
Foundations is a free Kontakt library that works in the Native Instruments Kontakt Player.
Heavyocity is renowned for its high-quality virtual instruments. With the release of Foundations, they’ve taken their talent for good sound and created something practical for every producer- amazing-sounding virtual strings.
And in case you missed their previous freeware release, Foundations Piano is well worth a look.
The new Foundations – Staccato Strings is all about punchy, staccato strings. It’s the perfect choice for those looking to create dramatic film scores or craft interesting chords in pop music/hip-hop.
The biggest thing that comes to mind when first using Foundations – Staccato Strings is that there are a LOT of options. The library comes with 480 samples, ten presets, and a user-friendly interface that allows you to tweak and hone your strings to get them sounding great!
It only took a few minutes of me using the Staccato Strings pack to understand just how versatile it is.
At the forefront of the interface is the option to control both the strings and texture. This allows the producer to add elements of Heavocity’s high-quality virtual sounds along with the presence of real strings.
In addition to these tone controls, there are a plethora of other tools at the user’s disposal.
This player includes a gate and arpeggiator for those looking to craft some interesting patterns. Beyond that, there’s a set of basic controls such as reverb, delay, and punch- plenty of options to craft a good tone straight from the Kontakt Player.
Overall, high-quality virtual strings are some of the most indispensable tools in any music producer’s arsenal. Foundations – Staccato Strings does a fantastic job combining aspects of virtual and real strings into one handy package.
If you already have Kontakt Player 6.7.1 or later, installation is pretty straightforward. Follow the link to the Heavyocity website, add to the cart, create an account and it will lead you to a checkout page.
Once you’ve checked out, you’ll receive a download link and can proceed to install it on your computer.
If you don’t have the full version of Kontakt, don’t worry! Native Instrument offers Komplete Start, a stripped-down version of Komplete, for free on their website. This includes a basic freeware version of Kontakt Player that’ll run on either Mac Os 10.14, 10.15, 11, 12, or Windows 10 or 11.

onHi Tomislav and BPB Team,
thanks for pointing to this freebie as well as reminding me of the Foundation Piano. Great instruments.
I just wanted to clarify that in order to download one needs to register, give them a name and address and install a Heavyocity software called Portal to be able to download. So, no direct download link (anymore).
Then one needs to register the serials in Native Access as well (of course).
I think this is important to mention in case somebody does not wish to do install another manager software.
Best regards
Peter
