Tracktion has just launched a free player instrument called Attracktive, and it’s available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Attracktive is based on the BioTek 2 engine, a premium product of the company.
The free download includes a selection of carefully curated sounds from a range of purchasable sound packs.
Tracktion is mainly known for its great free DAW called Waveform DAW, something every bedroom music producer on a budget should consider checking out.
Turning our attention to Attracktive, let’s see what makes it so.. well, attractive?
It’s become a trend nowadays for big companies to release stripped-down versions of complex synthesizers to offer the end user the possibility to taste their sounds more simply and affordably.
Sometimes, all we want as producers is to focus on the songwriting process without getting lost in the intricacies of sound design.
Attracktive has a sleek and professional-looking design, with controls varying between presets. Since presets are taken from various sound packs, each has its own artwork and set of macros and sound shaping options.
What is shared between them is the sound player’s array of controls.
At the top, you can find the preset browser to quickly navigate, thanks to arrows and search filters. You can also find more information about the current patch and save a new version to your user folder.
The top section also lets you choose the number of voices playing and the overall tuning if you desire to get quirky.
A panic button is useful to instantly stop any stacked notes.
A burger menu in the top right reveals several global controls like Zoom, MPE, and installation options for the content packs.
At the bottom is an interactive virtual keyboard for quick auditioning of the sounds and the vital Pitch Bend and Mod Wheel sliders.
Finally, at the bottom-right of the interface, there are a couple of controls for the arpeggiator, including sync and latch options.
Overall, Attracktive is quick and easy to use, and that’s exactly its main strength. The ability to load presets designed by professional sound designers in an intuitive, free instrument player is remarkable.
Attracktive is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux at 64-bit operating systems in VST/VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats.
All you need to do is register a free account on Tracktion, find the installer, and start making music.

onI was looking for the “Stonegrabber D-232” pictured at the top of this post and I don’t see it anywhere on their website. Do you know how to get it?

onI’m struggling with this companies web page to download Attracktive.
I’ve sent them a support ticket because I get an error when I try and log in for the offer.
