Sitala Drum Sampler Updated – New Features And 808 Drum Kit

5

Decomposer has released the beta 2 version of the Sitala drum sampler VST/AU plugin for digital audio workstations on PC and Mac (also standalone).

Sitala is a super-streamlined drum sampler plugin with a fast workflow. It features sixteen sample slots, each with a set of six control knobs. The tone, shape, compression amount, tuning, volume, and stereo pan, can be adjusted for each sample individually. The user can adjust these control parameters right from the front panel, without the need to navigate through menus.

The new beta 2 version of Sitala introduces several new features. The biggest improvement is the drag and drop kit management functionality that allows the user to quickly copy and swap pads. Sitala now also features a built-in file browser. The file browser is accessed by right-clicking a pad or the drop-down menu at the top of the GUI. Thanks to these two features, the drum kit management workflow is now even faster and more efficient than before.

Another improvement is the new 808 drum kit that comes included with the beta 2 version of the plugin. The sound set was crafted by one of Berlin’s top music producers who sampled their own Roland TR-808 drum machine to create a new default kit for Sitala. The included 808 samples (sixteen in total) sound very good, indeed. For more 808 sounds, check out the free BPB Cassette 808 sample pack.

  1. Will you do a bigger review of the new Icarus2 synth by Tone2? Sorry for asking under this but there’s been rants on kvr for weeks now.

Well, Sitala is freeware. In terms of workflow speed, I’d say they’re both equally good. Poise is more advanced though. It offers round-robin and sample layering, among other features not found in Sitala.

      • The developer of Sitala is always open to user suggestions and feature requests (see KVR threads). In fact, he has incorporated many features. The current version is top-notch and I guess continually we’ll see new features being added. Poise was great, but One Small Clue (the developer) has made an anouncement a year ago that he is withdrawning from audio development to focus on his family affairs.
