99Sounds sound design label has announced the release of The Warehouse, a free collection of horror sound effects and organic percussion samples created by Richard Gould.
Richard is an incredibly talented composer and sound designer from London, UK. You can find more examples of his fantastic work at his official website or on his LinkedIn profile. A huge thank you goes to Richard for releasing these great sounding samples for free on 99Sounds!
He created this sound library based on a collection of field recordings which he captured in an abandoned military storage facility in the United Kingdom. The library features a variety of spooky sound effects like rattling chains, glass scraping, creaking doors and weird sounding mechanisms. Although most of these sounds are 100% ready for use in a horror movie soundtrack, you’ll probably find that most of them can also be used as percussive one shots.
Apart from the one shot samples in 24-bit WAV format, the library also features instrument patches in NKI and SFZ formats. These are ready for use in the full version of NI Kontakt, or any SFZ compatible sampler. If you’re looking for a free SFZ player, you should definitely check out Zampler by Beat Magazine. It’s super easy to use and it also features a handy SFX section with some standard effects like delay and reverb.
Anyways, if you’ve download this or any other sound library from 99Sounds, your comments are more than welcome. You’re welcome to post your opinion about the quality of the included sounds, as well as suggestions for future releases. If you’re a talented sound designer with a passion for sharing your sounds with the rest of the world, feel free to get in touch!
