BPB has launched an indie sound design label called 99Sounds! The first release on the new website is Rain And Thunder, a free collection of samples and loops recorded during a spring thunderstorm.
Rain And Thunder was recorded using a stereo portable recorder, in various urban locations across Belgrade. The library contains one shot samples of thunder strikes and a collection of rain loops which can be layered and combined together to create different atmospheres. My favorites from this pack are the recordings of close thunder strikes and a set of samples which capture the sound of rain falling on an umbrella. The latter sounds really nice and reminds me of the subtle crackle of vinyl.
All included sounds are available in 24-bit stereo format. The feedback so far has been wonderful and I’d really love to hear what you guys think about the library in the comments section below. About 99Sounds
I’ve been releasing free sample libraries on Bedroom Producers Blog in the past (you can take a look at the past releases on the BPB Samples page) and numerous people have contacted me about releasing their own free sounds on this site. Inspired by the great feedback during the five years of work on BPB, I felt that hobbyist sound designers such as myself would benefit from an online label which would publish their work for free and provide a platform for sharing their recordings with the world.
This is how 99Sounds came about. The idea is to provide a space where interested musicians and audio hobbyists can share their sound libraries with everyone else, without worrying about hosting and distribution. So, if you record exciting sounds in your free time and feel like you’d like to post them online for other musicians to enjoy, get in touch!
For now, the focus is on publishing my own recordings on the site as I already have some interesting audio material in the works. I will keep publishing new instrument multi-samples right here on BPB, however my field recordings and sound design work will be published on 99Sounds from now on. The plan is to release a free sound library each month, with additional releases provided by other sound designers.
