IK Multimedia offers the T-RackS Classic Clipper (€49.99 value) plugin as a FREE download to all new and existing email subscribers.
T-RackS Classic Clipper typically costs €49.99, but IK Multimedia lets everyone interested claim a free license until June 29th, 2021.
See also: I Heart NY Compressor By BABY Audio Is FREE With LoopcloudUnlike a compressor or a limiter, a clipper uses soft clipping to tame the excess volume peaks. As a result, the process is potentially more transparent than dynamic range compression. As such, it is often useful as a mixing tool for achieving more loudness.
Even mastering engineers sometimes use clipping to boost the loudness of a mix. I run most drum tracks through a clipper to catch any rogue volume spikes before sending the drum buss to a compressor.
As far as clipper plugins go, T-RackS Classic Clipper by IK Multimedia is one of the more flexible options on the market. It lets you adjust the clipping curve, so it’s possible to get multiple types of distortion with the plugin. When set to soft, the effect is similar to analog tape clipping.
Here’s how to claim your free copy of T-RackS Classic Clipper:
- Log in or register an IK Multimedia user account
- Enter your User Area, and a pop-up will appear
- Follow the instructions to join the newsletter and redeem your product
- Download and/or open the IK Product Manager
- Log into your account and select Manage My Products
- Under Software, download and authorize in the T-RackS 5 section
- Open up your DAW or the T-RackS 5 CS standalone application and enjoy!

onI also use Classic Clipper a lot. Same with IK Multimedia’s equalizer we gave away a while ago: https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2020/11/17/t-racks-equal-free/

on”9 authoriaztions left” What that’s mean? Isn’t that free for life time?
KucingLiar
onI think the authorization bound to your machine ID
bilo
onDoes it mean ”After 9 authorizations this plugin isn’t free” ?
Hitesh Bandhu
onIt means you can run it simultaneously only on 10 machines. For 11th machine you would have to unauthorize a previous machine
bilo
onNo problem than, thanks for the reply.
Tomislav Zlatic
onAs far as I know (could be wrong), you can use it on up to 10 machines simultaneously.

onIK Multimedia’s download manager is a trash and their product policies are trash too. First I struggled with creating an account on their website because the Username required 1 upper case char, 1 lower case char, 1 number (for a username wtf?). Next I had to download the download manager (classic at this point), but then it forced me to install WHOLE T-Raks 5 Pack just for 2 freebies I have. Not just T-Raks though, it really tried hard to install some Custom Shop bs too (fortunately have windows prompts enabled and could block it right on spot).
Verdict: not worth. Not worth having few tons of trash unactivated software (showing up and taking place in my DAW too) just to have 2 small freebies.

onAh, also, trying to deinstall now – of course they wouldn’t just let me do it that easy. For owned software there is no deinstall button in their download manager. Just two “re-install” and “de-activate” buttons which I presume don’t clear their s*** from my system.

onWelcome to the world of music production.
It happens everytime with a newbie. Happened to me as well.

onNaah, there are still some decent companies that offer freebies without the bloatware (klanghelm, valhalla has some, PA with vouchers is basically free). IK is the worst though, even if you bother to go through accounts/authorization, you need to install all their plugins. You can remove the DLLs, but the base T-Rack itself is a massive bloat (over 1gb+) and you have to have that. They periodically offer their 1176 emulation, which is one of the best out there, but I cannot feel at ease with the accompanying bloat.
