If you’re subscribed to our YouTube channel, chances are you’ve already seen some of our favorite new stuff from NAMM 2018. For those who aren’t subscribed yet (what the hell guys?!), here’s another quick look at the best new instruments and studio gear that the 2018 NAMM show had to offer.
Our NAMM 2018 coverage is once again sponsored by Loopmasters and Pluginboutique. Big shout out to these guys for their continued support!
Elektron Digitone
Certainly one of the biggest announcements of NAMM 2018, the team at Elektron dropped the Digitone bomb on day 1 of the show, causing quite a bit of hype. Despite the super-busy schedule at Elektron’s booth, I managed to sneak in and capture this exclusive Digitone performance by Mario Hernandez. The video features a solo Digitone performance and an impromptu Digitone vs Digitakt mashup. Enjoy!
Malekko Manther
Malekko Heavy Industries introduced Manther, a compact analog synthesizer with some rather interesting groovebox-style features. It’s pretty much the perfect little box to check out if you’re a synthesist who doesn’t care too much about messing with keyboards. Enjoy this detailed presentation of Manther by Malleko’s own Ben Davis.
Korg Prologue
Korg Prologue was announced a few days before NAMM 2018, bringing the Monologue concept to a whole new level. A polyphonic analog synthesizer in a beautifully designed compact chassis, the Prologue is truly a force to be reckoned with. I spend a few minutes with the new instrument and recorded this quick test of its impressive filter.
Yamaha Montage OS Update (v2.0)
Yamaha updated the Montage keyboard with a host of new features and new sounds. Even if you don’t own a montage, though, the video above is certainly worth the watch. Dom Sigalas did a fantastic job presenting the instrument and showing off some of the fresh new sounds and performance tools.
SampleRobot Pro Montage Edition
Speaking of Yamaha Montage, all owners are getting the brand new SampleRobot Pro Montage Edition sample capturing software for free. We talked Christian, the developer behind SampleRobot, about the new features, the new interface (which looks amazing, by the way), and the forthcoming updates to the software.
