Plugin Boutique offers the StereoSavage 2 Elements plugin as a FREE download to participants who complete a survey.
Stereo width is a vital thing to consider when mixing. Thankfully, Plugin Boutique offers its in-house StereoSavage 2 Elements for FREE for a limited time.
To get the freebie, you’ll have to participate in a short survey. After completing the survey, you will get a coupon code to obtain the plugin free of charge. The coupon code itself is valid until March 31st, so act quickly.
StereoSavage 2 Elements is a cut-down version of StereoSavage 2. You don’t have access to the auto panning, but you do get access to panning and width controls.
The core interface is quick and easy to read, with a quartet of metering in the center. The left and right meters monitor the input and output of your signal.
The center meter acts as a goniometer graph, quickly visualizing the stereo width of the signal. A correlometer sits directly beneath this, allowing for a quick glance to see whether elements might experience some phase cancellation.
There are only three key controls present on StereoSavage 2 Elements. Pan is how it sounds and pans the signal as you would expect. The typical pan’s law of -3dB seems to be in full effect.
Width also works as expected, making the processed signal sound wider. Smaller amounts make a huge difference here, and during my limited testing, I found the first to second notch to be the sweet spot for pads and the like.
The most interesting feature is rotation, which acts like a stereo pan. It isn’t a strict stereo pan, but its implementation is clever.
The mid signal is panned around here while leaving the sides of the information alone. This could make for some interesting effects when dialed in with some automation, especially on plucky signals or chopped-up loops and the like.
StereoSavage 2 Elements is a handy little addition to any plugin addict’s folder of treats and toys. The survey is relatively brief, thankfully.
StereoSavage 2 Elements is available for Windows and Mac computers. Supported plugin formats are VST, VST3, AAX, and AU. Mac users have Apple Silicon compatibility as well as legacy Intel support.
