Keys Magazine released Sawrizor Lite, a freeware virtual instrument (VST, AAX, AU plugin) developed by Sugar Audio.
Sawrizor Lite is a freeware virtual synthesizer based on the premium Sawrizor plugin by Sugar Audio. The freeware edition of Sawrizor is available exclusively via Keys magazine.
See also: Free Synthesizer VST PluginsThe instrument features a saw oscillator with 11-voice stereo unison. The main oscillator is paired with a sub-generator which offers a choice between seven different waveforms (three sinewaves, drive, triangle, saw, and square).
The raw oscillator sound is then shaped with a low-cut filter and a volume envelope before reaching the rather busy FX section. There are four different effects you can use to spice up the sound, including a delay, a chorus, a simple reverb module, and a handy EQ for fine-tuning the frequency balance.
Sawrizor Lite also features a set of performance controls, a real-time waveform analyzer, a master volume knob, and a preset manager. Speaking of presents, Keys included an exclusive set of factory patches crafted by sound designer Carlzon. These patches cover a variety of classic EDM sounds, so you can simply fire up Sawrizor Lite in your favorite DAW and start making music right away.
Thanks to the combination of a fat unison oscillator and a sub-oscillator, Sawrizor Lite excels at electronic bass sounds and leads. It’s easy to generate supersaw-style lead sounds that will only sound bigger once you add a bit of chorusing and delay on top.
Sawrizor Lite is available in VST, AAX, and AU plugin formats for digital audio workstations on Windows and macOS. Unfortunately, the instrument is not compatible with macOS Big Sur or later.
You can download Sawrizor directly from the product page linked below, no signup required. It’s a ZIP archive that contains an EXE installer.
For a more advanced feature set, check out the full version of Sawrizer (24 EUR) which is available on Sugar Audio’s website.

Questions
onWhat’s the benefit of having this, when we already got Surge, Vital and Tyrell, the trinity of free synths?
Andrea Biasior
onFor the same reason we have thousand free plugins..it’free

onHaha, well said. And totally true in my case. :)

onYou don’t to have sign up for anything to get it, that is a plus. Easy offline installation, no serial needed, another plus. It is easy on the CPU, which is a big plus. It sounds pretty good, and it is easy to get into, clearly laid out GUI. It is easy to make new sounds, just twist that waveform knob.

onyeah this is kinda my thoughts after looking at it… if vital was a whole person, this synth is the equivalent of a finger.

onThey all sound different usually is a good reason. Sometimes you just need a synth that makes specific sounds. Harsh Digital

onYou forgot about Odin2 ;)

onTrinity? Why not go for Quadrinity. MOAR NITY!!

onGreat sounding synth, easy installation, low on CPU, easy to program. Difficult to see what is “lite” about it ?
Tomislav Zlatic
onYeah, definitely worth checking out!

onLooks like an improved Charlatan with some effects. Too bad it looks boring.

onThe GUI lacks contrast, bit small and no fun, for sure. My eyes ain’t getting any younger.

onOoooh look in “C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\SugarAudio\Sawrizor” and you have themes to play with, or even make your own.

onThe Pro version adds a second Wavetable OSC and 4x and 8x oversampling. Anything else? Anywho, back to the Lite version.
The name is a bit misleading, it does more than a saw, both on the lush 11-voice unison morphing wavetable main oscillator and the sub-osc with its 7 useful waveforms. A decent FX section, the reverb is ye olde 90s metallic kind but that’s the point, I guess. The filter section (here called Damp) is unusual, just a Decay-Sustain envelope, no fancy filter types there. The EQ is very handy to re-brighten the high frequencies lost in the dulling effect of the oversampling. Low CPU. One trick pony? Certainly. Good at its job? Yep.
No nonsense download, straightforward installation. C’mon, give it a try will ya.

onWe are allowed to have more than one freeware synth. Compared to how many free FX plugs are released, new free VST synths are far and few between.
