Impact Soundworks have updated Shreddage 3 Precision Free, a donationware bass instrument library that is now compatible with the free Kontakt Player.
Shreddage 3 Precision Free offers the same great sample quality and depth as the full version, with two playable octaves and the most important fingerstyle articulation, along with popping and release noises.
Thanks to the latest update, the Free version of Shreddage 3 Precision is now a free Kontakt library that works without limitations in Kontakt Player.
The instrument has four dynamic layers and four round-robin variations. The flexibility of the library is certainly remarkable, thanks to the great Console included.
It’s a dedicated mixer, modular effects rack, and pedal board designed to give you full control over your virtual guitar tone.
There are 30 effects modules to choose from, which include multiple EQs (digital and analog-style), compressors, spatial FX, modulation FX, amps, distortion pedals, reverbs, and a selection of over 30 custom cabinet IRs.
The custom cabs cover a variety of useful bass tones, with both dynamic & condenser mics in multiple positions, plus a ribbon mic for specific models.
The real benefit of the Console is that you can easily save and load FX chains or presets between projects for quick recovery. It also allows you to mix and blend between guitar pickups, with custom inserts on each if you want to.
Shreddage 3 Precision Free also comes with 28 production-ready Console tone snapshots. These are FX chain presets that are tailor-made for various virtual bass guitar tones.
It includes TACT 2.0 for articulation mapping, an updated version of the company’s trademark technology which stands for Total Articulation Control Technology.
This allows you to customize how all articulations are mapped and triggered from your keyboard, giving you plenty of freedom to create your preferred playing setup.
Just as in the full version, Shreddage 3 Precision Free includes a realistic fretting & voicing engine with multiple algorithms and styles to choose from.
Other great features worth mentioning are the Poly Input feature for realistic chords and the Strumming tab for programming custom rhythmic riffs.
It is probably one of the best free virtual bass instruments you can get right now!

onWell, registered it within Native Access (Kontakt Player 7 installed) but when I want to install the Shreddage Free library, Access tells me to install Kontakt (not player). So not really for Player yet!

onActually it tells you to install the Full Kontakt, but in reality its just a prompt. You can still install the library nonetheless. It happened aswell with me on Shreddage 3 Stratus Free.

onYou are, indeed, correct! Just a prompt, choose to install only this instrument, and you can run it fine with Kontakt Player 7. 👏

I had no problem with the setup and since I have a very old PC I was happy it is compatible with Kontakt player 6. It is as addictive as Stratus. But just a tip: after registering Precision free on your Impact soundworks account you can find a good sale for the full version on your account’s “My deals” section. But I hope this time they will also give a nice additional coupon for the full version like they did for Stratus. I already bought Stratus full version absolutely love it.

onI’m having trouble with strumming. I figured out how to make it work in Stratus Free (it was quite straightforward!), but following the same steps in Precision Free (account for the change in octave) results in no output whatsoever.

Precision has only 2 playable octaves. In Reaper called from B0 to B2 (from 23 to 47 in midi notes). And the strumming keyswitches by default can be found around G4 (midi note 70). With this limitation it can’t handle all imaginable chords. I guess in the free version you can access only a limited amount of strings. The instrument plays only the chords which are phisically possible on the provided strings.
