Kilohearts released the Kilohearts v2 collection as a free update for all existing customers. The great news is that the Snap Heap ($29 list price) modular FX plugin and the Kilohearts Essentials collection (containing 30 plugins) are now free for everyone interested.
The Kilohearts Essentials bundle contains 30 miniature plugins which work as “snapins” in Kilohearts’ modular software like Snap Heap and Phase Plant.
However, you are not limited to using them as part of Kilohearts’ more extensive plugins. They work just like any other VST plugin in any DAW.
The collection covers almost any type of audio processing you can imagine, from flanging and compression to comb filtering and transient shaping.

The plugins work great as building blocks in Kilohearts’ modular hosts, but they work just as well when used as standalone tools. I’m a big fan of the Pitch Shifter plugin, and I use it all the time for cinematic sound design (in fact, it was used quite a lot while working on the free cinematic sound effects collection for Flame Sound).
But, speaking of Kilohearts’ modular hosts, the Snap Heap plugin is available for free until June 12th, 2022 (the price will go back to $29 on June 13th). Snap Heap is a modular playground for building complex sound effects by connecting, you guessed it, the snapins available in the Kilohearts Essentials bundle.
In other words, you can build your dream modular sound effects by mixing and matching any of the effects listed above.
So, putting everything together, this is how you can get all of this software from Kilohearts for free:
First, visit the Snap Heap page and get your free license. Download the installer, and you should get instant access to all the free plugins included in the Kilohearts Essentials bundle. Once you’ve installed everything, the Kilohearts Essentials collection and Snap Heap should be available in your DAW.

previously they were 6 or 7 i think. not sure if the additions came with this new version, or if it happened previously and i missed it?
regardless, this worked flawlessle for me, after registering for an account, already had the 30 plugins added to my account, getting snap heap was just as easy, and with installation through their installer, everything was installed and activated automatically

onThey were all made free with the release of version 2. Effect quality is very good. Please keep in mind that Snap Heap will cost money later, so grab it to avoid paying the 29 bucks.

onKilohearts stuff rocks. Simple UIs, the installer isn’t awful, and the plugins almost always get the job done. Still not nuts about their reverb (but I’m probably neurotic when it comes to reverbs), but for all the basic track utilities, PLUS some wild sound-design capability if you slap SnapHeap on a bus and automate–that’s one heck of a Swiss army knife! Thanks for the heads-up, as always-

onEDIT: It looks like they have a new reverb, actually (or at least new to me), Convolver, so that one may be great and I may eat my words… I don’t think it’s part of the Essentials pack like the algorithmic reverb is, but the deal’s still amazing nonetheless.

onTo any registered Kilohearts users – before you put Snap Heap in the cart, log into your account. I actually didn’t even have to purchase it. Snap Heap was already added to my account with licenses for all offered effects.
I find Kilohearts installer to be very smooth and hassle free. The only other developer I can think of, that has the same flawless installation is Plugin Alliance.

With all the free/freemium stuff flying around this COULD seem like “Just some more effects.” But nah bruh. ESPECIALLY with SnapHeap being free. If just that was free it would still be noteworthy. Seven (up from four) lanes of serial processing along with parallel processing. But that you get SnapHeap and a couple dozen high-quality very core effects plugins all for free? Come on man. It’s dizzying. It’s. Well it’s darn near unfathomable really.
