BPB Dirty Spring is a free VST plugin that captures the magic of vintage spring reverbs. Use it for hypnotic guitar riffs, lush analog pads, dubby drums, and lo-fi vocals. We also included a pre-delay control that lets you create interesting echo-like sounds.

But this isn’t just a spring reverb. You can apply bitcrushing to the reverb signal for a crunchy lo-fi sound. We included multiple bitcrushing modes, ranging from subtle to extreme. BPB Dirty Spring also lets you control the mix level, so you can add a subtle bitcrushed layer to your drums for added grit.
It’s a Dirty Spring
By default, BPB Dirty Spring operates as a basic spring reverb. Use the Decay knob to adjust the reverb length and the Tone knob to amplify the higher frequencies. And yes, the Kick button lets you virtually “kick” the reverb unit to preview the effect. You can automate this control in your DAW and use BPB Dirty Spring as a percussion instrument.
But, we suggest trying the bitcrusher effect, too. It works best on drums, especially electronic drums that need to cut through the mix. Try applying a short-decay reverb with some bitcrushing on top and reducing the mix control until the effect is barely noticeable.
