99Sounds has announced the release of Punching Percussion, a free collection of fighting sound effects and percussion one shot samples crafted by Joshua Crispin aka Generdyn.
The pack contains 105 sounds in total, ranging from raw and unprocessed punches, slams and various other types of hits to post-processed sound effects which can also work great as percussive one shots. The original sounds were made by punching a boxing bag with and without gloves, however Generdyn has beefed up these raw sounds in the post-processing stage and turned them into earth shattering futuristic combat sounds and hard hitting cinematic impacts.
The audio material included in Punching Percussion can work great as a source of percussive hits and SFX samples in electronic dance music, as well a great source of combat sound effects which are perfect for use in movies and other video projects. Some of the post-processed hits sound as if the came straight from a blockbuster action movie, which is something that we’re used to seeing in Generdyn’s sound packs (more on this topic below). These dramatic post-processed hits can also work great when layered underneath drum hits or other percussive elements of a track. This technique is a quick and easy way to add tension and movement to sequenced drum loops.
The contents of Punching Percussion are organized into six categories for easy browsing. Each category is split into two subfolders – one for the raw hits and one for the post-processed sound effects. All included samples are provided in 24-bit WAV format (44.1 kHz stereo) and they can be used completely royalty free, even in commercial releases. The sounds included in Punching Percussion may not be sold or re-distributed in any way.
Jushua Crispin aka Generdyn is also the author of the popular free Cinematic Sound Effects sample library (72.9 MB download size, contains 50 audio samples in 24-bit WAV format) which was released as a free download on 99Sounds in July last year. He has also announced the release of a commercial sound pack which can expect in the weeks to come. We honestly can’t wait to see what this amazing sound designer has in store for his premiere commercial sound pack release!

Awesome! I’ve spent some time last week recording the sounds of punching my own leg, it appeares I could have just waited a bit :)
