SampleScience has released a set of 5 free Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) drum kits from his commercial Famidrums virtual instrument. The free samples are available in WAV, Ableton Live, Reason ReFill, and Grooove BPB formats.
Famidrums is a commercial virtual instrument developed by SampleScience, featuring the sounds of the Nintendo Entertainment System gaming console. There are two different types of sounds available – drum hits sampled from NES games and vintage drum machine samples that were resampled from the 1-bit sound chip found in the NES. The instrument is priced at $14.99 and available as a VST/AU plugin for compatible digital audio workstations on PC and Mac.

SampleScience is now giving away five drum kits (out of eight found in the full product) as free downloads on the Famidrums product page, no strings attached. The kits will work in virtually any DAW out there since you can simply grab the provided 16-bit WAV files and load them in your favorite sampler plugin.
The best thing about this release, though, is that SampleScience has also included a Grooove BPB version of the drum kits! The samples are already mapped out and ready to use in this nifty freeware drum sampler that you can download completely free of charge from our website. Loading the kits couldn’t be any easier. Simply download and install Grooove BPB on your computer and drop the provided NES kits into it.
