8Dio has released The New Cajon and Bongo, a freely downloadable percussion sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt.
The New Cajon and Bongo sound library is based on over 7,500 individual Cajon drum and bongo sounds. The sounds were captured from four bongos, two Cajon drums, and two Cajon snares with multiple articulations and velocity layers. The installation size for the library is 1.9 GB of data.

The Kontakt patch features a range of built-in effects (filter, gate, pitch, delay, compressor, and formant filter), along with a four-band graphic equalizer and a 32-step sequencer for building grooves by modulating the internal filter. Additional effects like distortion, reverb, and phaser are available on the master FX pannel.
The user can play the sampled instruments individually or as layered stacks. The Kontakt patch also has the ability to mix between two sound layers, each with different FX and modulation settings.
Keep in mind that the library requires the full version of NI Kontakt. It will only work for fifteen minutes in the free Kontakt Player plugin. Learn more about the Free Kontakt Library Demo Timeout – Explained in our tutorial article.
The New Cajon and Bongo can be downloaded completely free of charge from 8Dio’s website. A valid email address is required to get the download link. After signing up, don’t forget to check out 8Dio’s other free sound libraries. Their most recent freebie prior to The New Cajon and Bongo was the excellent Free ASMR library.
