Fuse Audio Labs released VREV-666 Spring Reverb, a freeware spring reverb effect in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats for compatible DAW software on Windows and macOS.
VREV-666 Spring Reverb plugin emulates the hardware VREV-666 reverb, a vintage compact spring reverb unit manufactured in the 1960s for the BBC.
See also: Free Reverb VST PluginsThe plugin version of the VREV-666 expands on the original’s feature set by adding a mix knob, a pre-delay control, and a simple EQ. The pre-delay goes up to 150 ms, which is fine, but it would be handy to have the option for longer pre-delays.
Another welcome addition is the built-in limiter which prevents internal digital clipping. Its threshold is controlled by the Effect Limiter knob, and the green GR light bulb indicates that the limiter is active.
Spring reverbs aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. They have a distinct sound quality that is unrealistic but, at the same time, undeniably charming and unique. Spring reverb is one of the main “secret spices” in genres like reggae and dub.
The thing about spring reverb plugins is that most of them don’t capture that authentic sound of hardware spring reverb units. I found the majority of virtual spring reverbs to sound too clean and lifeless.
VREV-666 sounds much closer to what I’d expect from a real spring reverb. The reverb algorithm is spot-on, and the Tone control works great for fine-tuning its character.
You can download VREV-666 Spring Reverb for free from the product page linked below. A valid email address is required to sign up for a Fuse Audio Labs user account.
After signing up, be sure to check out the RS-W2395C plugin, which is another excellent freebie from Fuse Audio Labs. It is a classic Baxandall EQ combined with a couple of useful add-on features.
On a related note, Fuse Audio Labs recently launched the annual Summer Sale, offering a 50% OFF discount on all plugins until July 15th, 2021.
Use the coupon code SUMMER21 at checkout to apply the 50% OFF discount to your order.

onOooh nice, I am excited to try it.
I thought I would not need spring reverbs, but for some guitars, for instance in afrobeats, they can be the perfect “ambience” you just need.
I am currently using the one from AirMusicTech, but alternatives are welcome !

onThe new Space Lite from Cymatics also has a spring reverb mode. https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2021/06/11/cymatics-space-lite/

onwhat’s with reverbs and satanic names, anyway?

onPerhaps a part of marketing, invitation to discussion etc. Case in point – we are talking about it now :) Even a free product has it’s purpose to attract attention of new and existing customers.
On the other hand, I haven’t even noticed this number in the title until I read your comment.

onNo, the original device had the triple-six in it’s name. So has nothing to do with Fuse Audio being on some “satanic” ish!

onQuestion is… why specifically reverb? It’s not the first or the second time

onEverything is created and planned by God,
donated for the common good, but then all
we have the freedom to recreate or manipulate

onI cannot create an account at the fuse audio labs site, anyone else having this issue? I do remember giving up my email address for that baxandall EQ but the reset password option doesn’t work either.
Voiicide
onI had the same issue. Disabling my adblock worked for me (for some reason)

onLike Michal said in another comment below, try to use Firefox to create an account. It fixed the issue for me as well.

onToday I had a problem, perhaps it’s the same as yours. I tried to register using Google Chrome. It didn’t work. Based on my previous experience I used Mozilla Firefox and registration went through. I’m slowly considering making a permanent change. Sometimes it’s ridiculous when Chrome doesn’t want to display specific part of the website etc. I had at least 20 similar situations in the past year.

onThanks for sharing this new audio device!
We weren’t impressed on the first listen,
expecting it to sound nicer than the look,
but we learned to be patient in similar cases,
after some chain combinations with correct
fine low cut settings and stereo widening
we came to interesting space backgrounds.
