IK Multimedia offers the AmpliTube X-DRIVE software distortion pedal as a FREE add-on for all AmpliTube 5 users (including the free AmpliTube 5 CS) until February 25th, 2022.
AmpliTube X-DRIVE for AmpliTube 5 is the software version of IK Multimedia’s X-DRIVE distortion pedal. It features sixteen overdrive and distortion effects, covering a variety of guitar distortion flavors.
Here’s the complete list of available distortion modes:
- Modern;
- Metal;
- Monarch;
- Cat;
- Orange;
- Yellow;
- Green;
- Diode;
- Blue;
- Booster;
- H-Boost;
- Crush;
- Octofuzz;
- Purple;
- Fuzzace;
- Big-Fuzz.
Some modes are based on legendary guitar pedals like Tube Screamer and DS-1, whereas others deliver a more original sound.
It’s clear that X-DRIVE aims to emulate as many types of distortion as possible, so you’ll want to check it out regardless of your playing style. It can work in various genres, from metal and hard rock to jazz and blues.
X-DRIVE is relatively easy to use. Apart from choosing the distortion algorithm, users can fine-tune the drive amount and adjust the 3-band equalizer. You can also record, create and save presets within AmpliTube and use them onstage if you purchase the hardware X-DRIVE pedal.
Here are the instructions to redeem and get started with your AmpliTube X-DRIVE virtual distortion pedal:

onDoes anyone know about a way to reset the popup window on IK Multimedia’s website? The first phase worked as usual the very first time I tried. Unfortunately when I clicked REDEEM the green stripe didn’t go all the way to the right and page refreshed by itself. X-Drive wasn’t added to my account. Now I keep refreshing every few minutes, but the popup window won’t come back. I deleted all cookies in my browser, but that didn’t help.

onYou could try visiting the website again after clearing your browser history. Or, use a different browser. Sometimes refreshing the browser with CTRL+F5 might help, too.

onsame here …it must be a problem on their end from server overload?…i’m going to wait a few days and if it doesn’t appear i’m going to send them off an email

onThanks for the help. Deleting browser history didn’t solve the problem. I’ve already tried different browser. I sent a support ticket to developer earlier today. I’m suspecting that it may be a one time thing. A type of security against users who may try and register more than one serial number. If that’s even possible. Surely when IK sees that I don’t have this product, they will reset it or something.

onis this supposed to show up as it’s own product owner “my products” ?
i ask because with EQ81 this is the case

onIn the user area on the website? No it isn’t. Just launch Amplitube 5 with the the IK product manager already open and click the ‘restore my purchases’ button under ‘account’ within Amplitube’s settings and it should be ready to use.

onAlbion, you saved me a lot of time as well. Your instructions were enough to get it working. It took me less than 3 minutes. Much appreciated.

onNo quite sure if I’m doing something wrong but when I click on x drive it just gives me the option to trial for 72hr or purchase the plugin at full price. I have tried the restore purchase function. Any suggestions?

onSame for me. Nothing I’ve tried is working.

onThe instructions above is very clear I had no problems. Except in Amplitube 5 – There are 4 Tabs directly above Collection (Pedal, Amp, Cab, Fx) make sure you select Pedal before you click Types or Collection.

onBeen trying to get this to work since yesterday, no luck. Tried re-authorising….still doesn’t work.

onOK, finally got it working. Had to re-install Amplitube, deactivate, reactivate and then it finally showed up!
