Virtual Riot is the latest Artist Pack release by Total Samples, available for purchase exclusively on Prime Loops. Bringing over 500 MB of high adrenaline sounds crafted by the German wunderkind Valentin Brunn aka Virtual Riot, this is a versatile collection of high quality audio material for dubstep/complextro producers. Read the whole article for a closer look at the sample library and for a chance to win a free copy which was kindly provided by Prime Loops!
The library contains over 500 MB of audio material (precisely 570 MB when extracted), spread across several categories. Here’s what’s included in the Virtual Riot sound library (all included content is completely royalty-free and available in 24-bit depth):
- 229 drum one shot samples
- 23 drum loops
- 144 bass one shot samples
- 68 bass loops
- 29 synthesized samples
- 75 synthesized melodic loops
- 35 SFX samples and loops
The bass one shots folder is a real treasure trove of modern electronic bass sounds. By mapping these samples across the keyboard in your favorite sampler, you get and instant dubstep bassline instrument which you can use as inspiration for new sounds or even for creating complete bass sections for your track. Of course, the included bass samples can be further processed and mangled to create something completely new, but they are already perfectly usable in they current form.
Same goes for the included drum hits (229 drum samples in total) which offer a solid foundation for building your own dubstep drum loops. They are also compatible with other genres such as complextro, glitch hop, etc.
Although I’m not a big fan of using pre-made melodic loops in my music, I sometimes enjoy experimenting with pre-made drum loops and processing them to get a different sound. Both the melodic and drum loops included in Virtual Riot sound great and they’re pretty much production-ready. I had tons of fun slicing the included drum loops and processing them with 3rd party effects to hear what I can come up with.
Final Thoughts
Without question, this sample library gets a pure 10/10 in terms of quality. Literally everything inside sounds absolutely fantastic and this release is in top of the class when it comes to dubstep/complextro/glitch hop sound libraries. The included loops are great, but the most valuable part of the library are the included one shot samples which offer a fantastic toolbox of modern bass and drum sounds for use in various genres of EDM.
Virtual Riot can be purchased for €31.27, exclusively via Prime Loops (available in WAV/Apple Loop/ REX2/ReFill/Ableton Live formats). For a chance to win a free copy of the library, take a look at our giveaway below!
