Prime Loops Total Dubstep Vol. 4 Sound Collection Review + Giveaway (Winner Announced!)

Total Dubstep Vol. 4 is the latest addition to the groundbreaking and hugely popular series of dubstep sound libraries by Prime Loops, featuring over 200 MB of high quality royalty free audio material. We’re taking a closer look at this hard hitting sound pack and giving away one free copy of the library to one lucky BPB reader!

The library contains 221 audio loops and samples in 24-bit WAV format, neatly sorted into six individual folders. When it comes to loop content, it’s definitely worth noting that most of the included loops come with several variations of the same groove or melodic phrase, which is definitely a nice bonus. The bass loops come with up to three variations per sequence and the drum loops include an additional set of fills and hat loops which can be mixed and matched together with different drum sequences. The library also includes a handy set of kick free drum loops which are great to have at your disposal if you prefer using your own kick drum samples.

The one shot content is absolutely top notch, featuring 120 well crafted and production ready drum hits, bass samples and sound effects. There are over 50 individual drum hits inside the pack, which is more than enough for creating your own dubstep drum loops from scratch. The drums are really well made and you’ll find them especially useful if you’re going for the heavier kind of dubstep sound pioneered by the likes of Skrillex, Datsik and Excision. The included bass samples also sound great and they can be used to build those modern growling dubstep basslines with ease. All included audio content is royalty free, which means that you can use it in any of your commercial projects upon purchase.

I would love to see some instrument mappings included in the pack (for various DAWs and samplers such as Kontakt, Ableton Live, Reason, etc.), however building your own mappings with the provided WAV files really shouldn’t be too hard. I was able to build a Kontakt patch with the provided drum samples in less than two minutes.

All things considered, this pack is definitely worth a look for dubstep producers who want to expand their sound arsenal. Most of the included drum samples and bass hits will also work great in other music genres such as electro, glitch hop, etc.
