SampleScience released UltraBasic, a freely downloadable (pay what you want) sample-based synthesizer in VST plugin format for digital audio workstations on Windows.
UltraBasic is a basic virtual synthesizer that uses sampled single-cycle waveforms as the sound source. SampleScience provided ten different waveforms, including a saw, sinewave, triangle, square, and six noise waveforms.
See also: Free Synthesizer VST PluginsThe user can fine-tune the included waveforms with a multi-mode filter (high-pass and low-pass), an LFO module, and a simple ADSR envelope. The plugin also features a built-in room reverb effect, a preamp, and portamento functionality.
UltraBasic can operate in monophonic, legato, and polyphonic modes. It works well as a source of simple analog pads, mono leads, and plucked sounds. If you’re new to synthesis, a simple virtual synthesizer like UltraBasic can be a great training tool for developing your sound design skills.

onI’m not sure if this is any good but Sound On Sound are advertising a giveaway by Inspirata, which is the lite version of some high end reverb software I think.
