IK Multimedia is celebrating its 25th Anniversary with a pretty sweet birthday deal. The company’s 25th Anniversary Group Buy offer runs until the 31st of August, so there’s still a little bit of time left to join. UPDATE: The sale is extended until September 30th, 2021.

When you purchase one of the qualifying plugins or tools, you get to select another one of equal or lesser value for free. Every purchase gains you another free product to their group buy counter – and you can help build this counter until you’re able to purchase 25 products for the price of 1.

Account-holders can also use their Jam Points to reduce the prices of their products. All in all, this is where your customer loyalty will pay off.

With each 1,000th customer, everyone gets one additional plugin for free. At the time of publishing this article, the sale has 9,221 participants.

In other words, you will get at least 9 free IK Multimedia plugins if you join the Group Buy right now.

So, there’s still a chance to get an additional freebie if the sale reaches 10,000 participants by tomorrow. In that case, IK multimedia will extend the sale until the end of September!

UPDATE: The sale is extended!

If you’re not familiar with IK Multimedia, they’re a great team of minds behind some seriously handy mixing and emulation plugins. They’re particularly useful for both multi-instrumentalists and sound engineers that focus on mixing live or studio recordings.

  • The AmpliTube 5 Collection is an absolute feast for guitarists that enjoy amp and tone emulations. Amplitube also includes an impressive collection of signature pedals and amps from big names like Fender, Marshall, and Orange.
  • T-RackS 5 is a simple, user-friendly workstation for mixing and mastering. The series features a handful of analog emulations like compressors, limiters, and effects units that make for some seamless mixdowns.
  • ARC is an Acoustic Room Correction software. The plugin also comes with a mic (not included in the group buy) that measures the spatial dynamics of your room and adjusts your monitor mix accordingly.
  • MixBox is a crazy collection of over 500 processing units for a variety of uses. This package includes some of the Amplitube and T-RackS tools, as well as a bevy of other emulations of classic analog processors.
  • SampleTank 4 is IK Multimedia’s composition workstation. It might seem a bit minimal to users of DAWS like Ableton or FL Studio, but Sampletank is deceivingly expansive and comes with a giant library of stock sounds and instruments.
  • Other live instrument emulations include a Hammond B-3X, Miroslav Philharmonik 2 (for symphony orchestration), and the Syntronik synth emulation packs.
  • MODO Drum and MODO Bass are instrument emulators that have a pretty convincing live sound, but special mention has to go to the MODO Bass plugin. The articulation options are stunning and you can really pull apart your compositions for some exquisite bass lines.

Teamwork makes the dream work with this deal, and the more people get involved, the more everyone gets out of it. There are enough tools IK Multimedia offer to build an entire live band and studio inside your DAW for just a fraction of the price and labor.

  1. Nice deal! Tempting it is, but I find that I don’t end up using IK products, not even the free ones, just don’t like their copy control, so I think I will be able to save my money. Only 180 days of access to the products is also a downer.

When you authorize IK Multimedia product, it’s then added to your product list in your account. You can access the plugin installers with no problem for unlimited time via IK Product Manager. It’s tricky for any content that includes large sample libraries. You have 180 days to download them. After this time passes, you can only access them with a small fee. It’s called “Sounds Download Reactivation Credit”.

        • Oh ok. Well I sadly got the philharmonic 2 CE and all the libraries it comes with are not compatable with Mac Big Sur I guess, I keep getting an error and no help from support yet. Hope they don’t charge me when a library comes out for Big Sur… or maybe someone knows a work around?

          • What’s the issue you’re having? Have you saved the .dmg files to an external drive and find they won’t open when you double click? I had that issue but managed to resolve it.

            • I have the content downloaded to my computer. I click the folder open and there is a box that says install Philharmonik sound content and then a folder next to it that says it is the sound content… I double click the box to install it and it crashes and then says it’s empty. How do I get the sound content into my philharmonic plug in I guess I’m trying to figure out.

    • With such a huge giveaway, any limits on any downloads made no sense to me, so I decided to pass. I only happened across this nugget while looking to see if ik products needed an internet connection to work. Ended up reading old posts from some ik guy in a forum where he tried to justify it, going on about storage costs and how they use some of the better CDNs. I can’t remember if I rolled my eyes first or burst out laughing in disbelief.

  2. IK multimedia took 9 months to reply to a support email of mine on a paid for version of Sampletank . They won’t be getting any more purchases from me.

  3. They have some nice classic synthesizer romplers for Syntronik…I have no experience with Arturia’s V collection, but i imagine the concept is similar. I bought one for 50euros, reduced the price by a third using Jam Points and have since been able to DL another 9 libraries at no extra cost.

I dont necessarily agree with the 180 day download thing, but i tend to DL all of my content anyway, and once you have it, you have it. You can also download to an external drive if you want a backup. They suggest that you do this.

Personally, I think it’s a great deal, but then i’m invested in it :-D

  4. When people hate on IK Multimedia, I understand, but also think it’s important to distinguish between where IK is lackluster, and where they shine.

So, here are my thoughts on IK Multimedia…

First, I’m invested in their system, so that’s where I am coming from. I really like T-racks and Amplitube and even feel that their authorization policy is very generous (10 simultaneous authorized machines per product and an easy de-authorize process). However, I don’t like their download time-limit for sounds (note: products like Amplitube and T-racks are NOT affected by the time-limit) and think they are hurting their reputation and business, along with making life for their customers more complicated. On top of that, I have had quite a bit of trouble using SampleTank 4. My SampleTank library just never seems to work right. It’s a struggle to install the sound packs or whatever. I basically just gave up on it. Syntronik works fine and I enjoy using it, though installation of sounds takes a while.

    • Yes well said. I think the quality of their plugins and sound libraries are pretty high.
But yeah, I don’t get the re-activation credit idea and also agree that their installation procedures are very convoluted and confusing. More so for sound banks than plugins. They’re great when they work though!

  5. It’s a nice deal. I got some SampleTank instruments 20 years ago when I bought a sound card. And after that … a few freeware plugs. Never used them a lot in the last years. But I became interested in this groupware buy, especially MODO Bass.

In short – we all know that installation is a bit quirky. But you only do that once. 180-days sounds download, well you can save your downloads on a separate hard drive. No big issue. And technical support is really lousy, we know that.

So what have we got? SampleTank – some older sounds are very outdated. Newer sound are better. This strange sample ROM-player is rather lean on resources and an OK bread-and-butter sample player. The same goes for Syntronik and SampleTron. 3 out of 5 stars. Nothing really shines, nothing is really bad.

Amplitube 5 is a small gem. IMHO not as good as Brainworks but still very, very decent. And some amp simulators really rocks. For 150 bucks you’ll get a plethora of amp and cab sims due to group buy. The same goes for T-Racks, but the amount of plugs is less comprehensive. Nearly 5 out of 5.

Just installed ARC, seems a good idea, but I must use it a bit more for a final verdict. The same goes for Mixbox.

The bright shining stars are Modo Bass and Drums. Impressive! Lots of nice tweaking.

So, after buying MODO Bass, I got Modo drums, Sample tank, Syntronik, SampleTron, MixBox, ARC and some T-Racks and AmpliTube stuff for free. Albeit not using everything, it a super bargain! And it’s still 25 days to go until group buy is terminated…

So does it mean, that if quantity of these offered free plugins increases, you will be able to get some more stuff without spending another dime?

      • Yes! This weekend probably buy one – get twelve free. And so on. The pace just now is about 1000 new every 50/60 hours. This makes least three new plugins for free every week until 30th September. Probably buy one get 18 free.

    • How does Amplitude compare to Guitar Rig?

I haven’t delved too much into syntronik but am actually really enjoying some of those presets actually.

  6. You can get a yearly subscription of Beat Magazine with T-Racks 5 as a bonus for ~ 90 EUR. Activating the licence triggers the Group Sale for articles up to 150 EUR worth.

  7. I’d also look on the KVR forum as it is possible to get entry into the GB at a particular price point using an unregistered license you can buy second hand for significantly cheaper. For example I have seen 150EU licenses going for 45EUR.
