Bleass Releases Monolit FREE Monosynth Plugin

BLEASS releases Monolit, a FREE and intuitive mono synth for macOS, iOS, and Windows.

Monolit combines elements of BLEASS Alpha and BLEASS Omega to create a compact but powerful mono synth.

It’s a dual oscillator synth with an FM stage and built-in Arpeggiator. Oscillator 1 allows you to blend four waveforms (Pulse, Triangle, Sawtooth, Noise), while Oscillator 2 provides a single waveform (Sine, Triangle, Sawtooth, Square).

The FM stage modulates one or both analog-style oscillators with varying levels of aggression and animation.

After the FM stage is the Amp Envelope with large ADSR faders. A second Envelope Generator is available and can control up to two synth parameters.

The Filter section offers high-pass, low-pass, band-pass, and notch filtering and includes a nice Filter Graph. It features an X2 mode that brings a more aggressive slope and enhanced resonance.

An LFO offering Sine, Triangle, Sawtooth Up/Down, Square, and Sample-and-Hold waveforms can be routed to two destinations.

Monolit provides plenty of hands-on control using a MIDI keyboard; you can route each controller source to two destinations. As well as making use of pitch/mod wheels, you can assign aftertouch to synth parameters for more expressive performing.

The built-in Arpeggiator is pretty comprehensive and offers several sync modes and pattern directions. The available sync modes are FREE (internal timer), Sync (sync to host DAW’s beat), and BEAT (sync to host DAW’s beat and sync pattern to host DAW’s bar and beat location).

You can play patterns in Normal, Up, Down, Up/Down, or Random directions, depending on where you want your target notes to land. Patterns can stretch over multiple octaves.

Monolit has a Unison algorithm that creates up to seven copies of your synths voice with optional detuning. Typical voice parameters are also present, like Retrig, Vibrato, and Glide.

BLEASS has made what seems like a very intuitive and tactile synth that can produce some massive sounds, from monster basses to ethereal FX. Tactile isn’t always a word used to describe a plugin, but the Monolit GUI should be easy to use regardless of platform. Everything is quite chunky, but not in a bad or clumsy way.

Monolit is available in 64-bit AU, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS (10.9 upwards, including M1) and Windows (8 upwards). It’s also available for iPhones and iPad.
