Audio Assault has dropped the price of all commercial VST/AU plugins in their product lineup to just $20 until Christmas.
Featuring a range of versatile mixing tools and virtual guitar amplifiers, this deal is definitely worth considering if you’re a mix engineer who often deals with recorded guitars and acoustic drums. Most of these plugins will work great for mixing other styles of music as well, such as the excellent XCTR saturator and the FreakQ 305 equalizer. Let’s take a closer look at what Audio Assault has to offer.
Multi Transient ($65 value) is a multi-band transient shaper capable of processing complex audio material such as live acoustic drum recordings. Unlike a traditional compressor, Multi Transient isn’t threshold-dependent, making it suitable for tackling even the most dynamic drum performances. If you don’t need the advanced multi-band features of Multi Transient, for just $5 you can currently grab its little brother Transient+ ($10 value).
XCTR ($65 value) is a multi-band saturator based on the internal algorithms of Audio Assault’s outstanding Head Crusher ($75 value) saturation effect. Translating the intensity of high-gain guitar amplifiers into a streamlined mixing tool with loads of analog mojo, XCTR is one of the more powerful saturation effects on the market. The plugin features four saturation channels for targeting different frequency regions, with optional oversampling to keep the audio on the output free of artifacts.
Head Crusher is a versatile saturation tool developed by Audio Assault.
Dominator ($75 value) and Bulldozer ($60 value) are both inspired by legendary high-gain amplifiers and pack entire guitar rigs into a single interface. The setup includes the amp itself, a virtual cabinet with optional IR loader capabilities, a 5-slot pedal board with a variety of pedals to choose from, an effects loop, and a choice between four different microphones.
Westwood Drums ($79 value) and Druminator ($75 value) are sample-based acoustic drum instruments with multiple microphone positions, multi-out capabilities for easy external processing, multiple snares and kick drums to choose from, and powerful virtual mixers. Both products feature unprocessed sampled drum kits which can cover multiple genres with a bit of tweaking using internal and external effects.
