Sonixinema releases free Christmas Bells sound library for Kontakt Player by Native Instruments.
Bring in the yuletide spirit with some sleigh bells and round robins inside your DAW. If you are looking for festive sounds that are quintessential to Christmas, this is it.
Sonixinema is a boutique sound design company that creates expertly crafted virtual instruments. So when they decide to create a Christmas bells Kontakt library, you know it’s going to be good.
Featuring multiple dynamics and preset rhythms to get you started, this instrument uses the free Kontakt Player from Native Instruments. So you will need to download and install it along with the Native Access software to manage all your instruments and other NI apps.
All of this is still free, and it’s a good platform to have on your computer because there are plenty of free Kontakt instruments out there, and many of them are of very high quality.
Even though this is a fairly simple instrument, the makers have gone in deep to give us a fairly expanded set of controls to shape the sound to our liking.
There are separate envelope and FX pages, plus a sequencer for creating custom rhythms. The sequencer can be turned on and off, so that leaves you with the flexibility of playing your own rhythms when you want to. It has the usual controls like swing, time, step length, and quite a bit more. It can be used to create very expressive loops and patterns.
For a free instrument, the sequencer is quite impressive. It has most likely been adopted from Sonixinema’s paid instruments.
The FX section has all the favorites like delay, lowpass, reverb, and chorus. And there are also controls for mic proximity to create the kind of stereo image that you would like. Check out the official video for a quick tour of the instrument.
The sound quality is pristine and very dynamic when you want it to be. It has all the nuances of the bells, so they will fit into any professional project that needs this instantly recognizable sound. Since it is a Kontakt instrument, it is available for both Mac and Windows and will work with most DAWs that support VST or AU (Mac).
If you are not familiar with the Kontakt Player, don’t worry. The company has an easy-to-follow video to help you with the installation process. Get it from the official product page over at the Sonixinema website

It appears a thing with Kontakt 7 is that Kontakt Player instruments have been much cheaper or even free to make ?
