During June, you can get the Degrader (€44.95 value) bit crusher plugin by Klevgrand for free with any purchase at ADSR Sounds.
Degrader is both a resampler and a bit crusher combined into a single plugin. It can be employed to simulate the sound of vintage digital gear, either as a lo-fi effect or creative distortion unit.
Klevgrand has built a reputation among other audio developers for creating inspiring and creative plugins, and Degrader is another example of this.
Since all parameters are fully automatable, Degrader really shines when used as a live performative effect. For instance, you can use it to create unique distorted drops, sweeps, and other transitions with a grungy flavor.
The features include two characterful low-pass filters, pre and post-resampling, with the frequency fixed to half the sample rate value.
The resampler is found at the bottom-left of the interface, and it controls the amount of jitter plus any sample rate between 250 Hz and 96kHz.
At the center of the UI, you’ll find a handy oscilloscope displaying one and a half of a sinusoid’s wavelength, which is useful for seeing the amount of sonic degradation. The more grainy and distorted the shape of the sinusoid, the more degraded the signal becomes.
The bit crusher allows you to go as low as three bits of low resolution continuously and even crush the signal until it becomes unrecognizable.
On the right of the UI, you can find some global controls to control and finesse the effect to your needs.
Input/Output parameters can trim the gain levels up to 24 dB in both positive and negative amounts, while Mix can set the blend with the unprocessed signal. The Power button works as a global bypass to A/B-test the effect quickly.
Another really cool feature of Degrader is its possibility to link several parameters of the resampler and bit crusher panels.
In this way, you can experiment with all sorts of audio degradation effects; for example, you can combine the Bit-Depth control with the Saturation one.
Degrader comes loaded with several presets simulating different vintage gear if you want quick lo-fi results.
It’s available for both Mac and PC, with AU, VST 2, VST 3, and AAX formats.

onDegrader is NOT FREE at ADSR Sounds! The banner on top of the ADSR website states “free plugin with each purchase” but then the banner shows Degrader for $39.99 !!!!!
Truly misleading banner on their site – Free plugin is ADSR Sample Manager

onIt’s not misleading. It’s free with any purchase just as the banner says. I just checked with one of their cheaper offerings currently (audiothing plugin at $9) and it automatically added degrader alongside audiothing. They do it just like other stores that have promotions like this.

onDegrader is actually a pretty fine Bit – crusher.
