Plugin Boutique offers the Simple Concept synthesizer plugin by Krotos as a FREE download until July 31st.
July has been an exciting month for freeware news so far, thanks mainly to the KVR Developer Challenge, which brought us 21 amazing freebies.
However, there’s more!
Plugin Boutique is currently giving away Simple Concept synth by Krotos for free until July 31st.
Simple Concept is an interactive and easy-to-use soft synth powered by the bigger Krotos’ Concept synth engine, wrapped into a compact interface.
As its name suggests, Simple Concept has a simple workflow and a limited number of user-friendly sets of controls.
However, don’t be fooled by its apparent simplicity – it has a very smart synthesis engine under the hood to let you discover new sounds quickly and efficiently.
Firstly, Krotos Simple Concept comes preloaded with a diverse range of 80 presets, covering basses, leads, pads, keys, plucks, and FXs to choose from.
Over the top of the UI, you can see a visual representation of the sound produced by Simple Concept thanks to a handy oscilloscope.
After choosing a preset from the browser menu, you can customize it with three pre-assigned and labeled macros. Those vary from preset to preset since the assignments have already been made by the sound designers of the Krotos team.
You then have access to the classic ADSR envelope controls to shape the general behavior of the current patch.
A very special feature of Simple Concept can be found at the bottom of the interface, where the ‘Tweak It’ section resides.
By clicking on the dice icon, you will trigger the smart randomization of the Concept synth’s engine under the hood, which helps you create patch variations based on the current settings.
This synth is aimed mainly at beginners who have no experience in sound synthesis and want to achieve good results quickly.
In this way, you don’t have to deal with the deep understanding and handling of many parameters, usually found in more comprehensive and complex synths.
From the design point of view, it’s not that different from Cube Mini, which is another amazing freebie available this month.
Simple Concept also has a hidden powerful feature called Audio Input, which analyzes the input signal and, with the help of an envelope follower, shapes the synthesized patch accordingly.
It must be noted that this feature is not supported for FL Studio or Studio One users.
Simple Concept is available for Mac and PC with 64-bit operating systems only, and VST, VST3, AU, and AAX Native as available formats.

onA big THANK YOU to BPB readers Luko and Christian H. for the info!
Numanoid
onThanks, can always use another license. As I remember I got this for free from Novation Sound Collective three years ago.
Dirk
onOne more Highlight!! Thanks
Marcel
onThanks BPB for the article, it looks like an interesting synth.
I have installed the software and have received a license key from PB. However I am unable to activate it, it seems to ignore my key when I press Activate. Am I doing something wrong?
Marcel
onOh, I figured it out. The code you have received from PB is not the license code, but the deposit code. It needs to be registered at your Krotos account, and only then you will receive the actual license key.

onIntel only for macOS, so requires Rosetta on silicon architecture (M1, M2).
