Free Samples & Loops Roundup + DEALS (July/August 2017)

The summer holidays are over and it’s time to head back to the studio! What better way to start another music-making season than with a bunch of new free sounds and patches to add to your arsenal. To help you with that, we’re listing the best soundware deals, free audio samples, loops, and synth sound banks released in July and August 2017. Enjoy!

Free Samples & Loops

• SampleScience has released TR-505 Drum Loops, a free collection of loops captured from Roland’s classic TR-505 drum machine. The pack contains 30 loops in total, provided in Acid WAV format and prepared for use in FL Studio SliceX.
• Francis Preve has introduced Scapes, a freely downloadable collection of synthesized environmental soundscapes formatted for use in Ableton Live.
• Ztekno is offering the Monster Techno sample pack as a free download on their SoundCloud page. The pack is normally priced at $19.99 via Beatport Sounds.
• Critical Vibrations has launched SM Drums For Ableton, a free Ableton Live drum instrument based on the free SM Drums sample collection. It contains over 3,600 individual samples of the 1960s vintage Ludwig drum kit.
• R-CAT has released Elizabeth’s Metallic Percussion – The Sequel, a superb follow-up to the previously released Elizabeth’s Metallic Percussion collection. The new release contains a set of metallic drones, impacts, and various percussive sounds.
• Audio Wonder has released Wonder Harp, an unusual but lovely sounding harp sample pack. The free product contains 100 samples captured from an orchestral harp and several synthesizers. Wonder Harp was designed for use with NI Kontakt 5. The download link is delivered by up to 24 hours after signing up.
• SampleTraxx has introduced Newforms, a free set of SFX samples for movie sound designers, trailer, and video games composers. The included sounds are inspired by the sound effects used in Transformers blockbuster movie franchise and are provided in WAV and NI Kontakt 5 formats.
• Speaking of SampleTraxx, they have teamed up with our colleagues at ProducerSpot to release Sonic Impacts, a freely downloadable collection of cinematic sound effects in WAV format (contains 90 samples in total).
• Arrowhead has released HOF, a free set of 96 high-quality mono reverb impulse responses from the Hall Of Fame guitar pedal.
• Julien Tauban has released 17 Vintage Chords, an unusual free instrument for NI Kontakt featuring chord samples made with various vintage instruments.
• Mode7 has released his first free sample pack titled Bleeps Blaps & Risers, containing lo-fi sound effects made with analog gear.
• Undrgrnd Sounds has released Label Sampler Vol 2 which contains 500 MB worth of royalty free samples and loops from the label’s latest commercial products.
• Fans of vintage computers and lo-fi musical instruments should definitely check out the free Amstrad CPC 464 Ram Music Machine Drum sample pack by Synth Magic (via @Rekkerd).
• Autodafe has released The Cricket, a free sample pack based on the “Grillo Parlante” toy which is essentially the Italian version of “Speak & Spell”. Available as a virtual instrument for NI Kontakt, the library features all the sounds from the original unit. Also included are a reverb module, a lo-fi effect, a filter, an LFO, and a global volume control.
• Flintpope is giving away a FREE Kontakt Bundle containing six unique virtual instruments for use in NI Kontakt. The bundle can be downloaded for free via Gumroad if you enter zero as the price (you can choose any other price if you want to support Flintpope’s work).
• Function Loops has released Killer Kicks, a free collection of kick samples designed for EDM producers.
• Sonic Bloom has released Free SB Mellotron Samples, a free collection of Mellotron multi-samples in WAV format.
• Bigcat Instruments has introduced An Orchestra – Strings, a free orchestral library for NI Kontakt based on the Chamber Orchestra 2 string samples by Versilian Studios.
• Mayo Staccato has introduced Scads Of Hats, a free set of 28 organic hi-hat samples made from various field recordings. Free to download via SoundCloud, available in WAV format.
• Manwomanchild is offering a free Korg Volca Keys sample pack. The pack contains multi-sampled Korg Volca Keys waveforms provided as high-resolution 96 kHz, 24-bit WAV recordings. Also included are patches for NI Kontakt, Ableton Live, and SFZ.
• Dance MIDI Samples has introduced DMS Free Psytrance Loops & Acid Pack, a free collection of Roland TB-303 style acid loops for trance producers. The pack contains 30 Psytrance loops in total. The same company has also released the DMS Producer Chords Free Pack containing 10 song starter construction kits.
• Sound Machinery has introduced the DR.110 REDUX virtual drum machine for NI Kontakt. The instrument is based on the Boss DR-100 hardware drum machine and features a custom NI Kontakt user interface. Email subscription is required to download the freebie.

Free Sound Banks

• The Unfinished continues his excellent series of free sound banks with Podolski Jaune, a collection of presets for the Podolski virtual synthesizer by U-He.
• Sonic Sirius has introduced the free ArtWork Soundbank for the Poly-Ana virtual synthesizer by Admiral Quality.
• Lionshare Sound has shared Outrun Synthwave, a free synthwave sound bank for the Serum synthesizer by Xfer Records. The included patches are velocity sensitive, with 4 Macro Controls for adjusting multiple parameters simultaneously.
• NewLoops has released 20 free presets for Hive which can be downloaded at the bottom of the Hive Double Pack product page.
