Karoryfer Samples has announced the release of Gogodze Phu Vol I, a free percussion library for Plogue Sforzando and all other SFZ-compatible instruments. The company has also updated the recently released Swirly Drums sample library.
Gogodze Phu Vol I is a free percussion sample library featuring the sounds of bobobo drums and a cajón. The two instrument sample sets are provided as two separate presets. If you load the provided presets in the free Sforzando virtual instrument by Plogue, you’ll have access to the customized user interface with various on-screen controls and advanced functionality like mute and finger roll. However, you can choose to load Gogodze Phu Vol I in any virtual instrument compatible with the SFZ format if you simply need a way to playback the included sounds.
The bobobo portion of the instrument comes with five articulations – one for the bass drum two articulations for two different treble drums. Aside from being able to adjust the volume of each articulation, the user can also adjust the panning and the tuning of individual drums. The tune spread knob on the right-hand side of the user interface is used to define the minimum and maximum detune values. Finally, the mute parameter emulates the different tones you can achieve by hitting the real bobobo drum in different positions. The mute parameter can be automated to make the performance sound more interesting and realistic.
The cajon preset comes five main hit types, two side hits, two hit variations with the snare removed, and the additional finger roll articulation. The user can adjust the volume of the front and rear microphones, the tuning, mute, and the “contrast” between the two microphones. The position and the dynamics of the finger roll articulation can be customized as well.
On a related note, the Swirly Drums sample library by Karoryfer Samples has been updated to v1.1, introducing new sampler formats and fixing several minor issues. Most importantly, Swirly Drums now includes both NI Kontakt and Plogue Sforzando presets. On top of that, it comes with more flexible and realistic snare stir and flutter envelopes, fixed cowbell samples (low-end noise removed), and a refined user interface.
Gogodze Phu Vol I is available for free download via Karoryfer Samples (29.8 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 544 audio samples in WAV format, instrument presets in SFZ format).
