Hideaway Studio has released Underwurlde, a free NI Kontakt instrument featuring a pad sound created with a unique tube hybrid dual filter.
Here’s what Dan Wilson (aka Hideaway Studio) has to say about the instrument:
Basically it’s a large evolving pad made by hand cranking the cutoffs on an unusual tube hybrid dual filter of mine fed with a very hot signal where both parallel filter stages are running into near self resonance so that the harmonics in the pad are dancing about the cutoff point in a pleasing manner. Several of the CV channels are being modulated via a control matrix during the swell to give the effect of an ever expanding sound.
Underwurlde is proudly hosted on Bedroom Producers Blog, with kind permission of the author (the download link is located right below this article).
Please note that Native Instruments Kontakt 4 or higher is required in order to load the supplied NKI file.
This instrument is only a small part of a series of fantastic free Kontakt instruments created by Dan Wilson. You can find and download all of these sounds in the Hideaway Studio Archive.
Underwurlde was first released in July 2012 in this thread on KVR Forums (however, the original download link is no longer active).
