Flying Delay Is A FREE Analog Echo Plugin By SuperflyDSP

SuperflyDSP releases Flying Delay, a freeware analog-inspired delay effect in VST3 and AU plugin formats for compatible DAW software on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Flying Delay is a freeware plugin inspired by analog delays and tape echo effects. It is a stereo delay plugin with an optional ping pong delay mode and host sync capabilities.

The plugin features a well designed and freely resizable user interface. You can adjust the decay time, delay time (in milliseconds or note length values), dry/wet mix, and host sync.

For a more analog-like sound, Flying Delay includes a tape emulation effect, which adds saturation and coloration to the wet signal. SuperflyDSP also provided a pair of filters (low-pass and high-pass) that are useful for adjusting the delayed signal’s frequency response.

Thanks to its flexible delay time parameter, Flying Delay can perform quite well both as a reverb effect and a long echo effect. From my personal experience, it sounds best as a vintage tape delay, with subtle saturation and a slightly low-passed decay.

Here’s how SuperflyDSP describes the Flying Delay plugin:

“The delay allows you to repeat the input signal periodically like an echo. It can be used subtly or intensively on different instruments (like guitar, vocals, or keyboards.). It can simulate a very short reverb (50ms) or echo until five seconds. Thanks to the Tape slider, you can raise the spirit of an analog tape delay. It also offers two filters, lowpass and highpass (12dB per octave). As well as the essential ping-pong mode.”
