Plugin Boutique offers the Moogerfooger MF-108S Cluster Flux plugin as a FREE add-on with any purchase until May 31st, 2023.
Moogerfooger MF-108S Cluster Flux is the plugin version of Moog’s vintage MF-108 analog multi-effect pedal. It can deliver all sorts of cool modulation effects, including flanging, chorusing, and phasing.
The name Moog always makes me think of top-notch sound quality. I have their compact Minitaur synthesizer, and it’s the best bass synth I’ve ever used. You can’t make it sound bad even if you tried.
That said, I’ve never tested any of Moog’s plugins, so I had no idea how they compared to their renowned hardware.
Now that the Moogerfooger MF-108S Cluster Flux is free with any purchase, I jumped on the chance to test it and see how it compares to the other modulation plugins I own.
Just like the physical version, the MF-108S has a special delay line that’s designed for short delay times. It also has a super flexible LFO that can modulate the delay line and create a wide variety of sound effects.
When I tried it out, I found the Moogerfooger MF-108S to be a flexible modulation tool. It works well on various sound sources, including guitars, vocals, and synths.
You can use it to add a soft chorus to guitars, a gentle echo to vocals, or to completely transform synth sounds.
Most importantly, the Moogerfooger MF-108S is easy to use, and that’s where I noticed the familiar feeling I have when tweaking the bass sounds on my Minitaur. The controls are perfectly calibrated, so it’s easy to find the sweet spot when customizing your modulation settings.
What really made the original Moogerfoogers special was their powerful control voltage (CV) inputs and outputs. These let them mix and match with other effects to create a sound that was bigger than the sum of its parts.
Staying true to this, the Moogerfooger plugins bring back this CV connectivity. This lets each plugin change the settings of any other in your project, no matter which digital audio workstation you use.
You can play around with the CV inputs to make your own custom effects, just like you would by connecting different physical effects in a studio.
If this sounds like your kind of thing, you can get the Moogerfooger MF-108S Cluster Flux for free if you buy anything from Plugin Boutique this month.
Their exclusive 29 and Under Plugins Sale is a great place to start, as it offers massively discounted products from various manufacturers.

onIn a good way, or…? I tried quite a few of those, some are excellent and some are so-so. Interesting collection, nonetheless.

onI usually pick something from “Glitchmachines” when I can’t find anything I’m more interested in at a good price. They usually have some cheap interesting plugins, but now it seems the prices have gone a bit up. Cheapest one I can see it the following: https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Effects/53-Multi-Effect-/1917-Convex
Or you can browse some other offers:
The “Stardust 201 Tape Echo” by Cherry Audio was cheaper too recently, but even if it costs more now it is only about 17€, I bought that and it offers a lot for your money: https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Effects/49-Echo/8125-Stardust-201-Tape-Echo
Also check the “SampleX-V3” by Beatskillz in offer: https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Effects/32-Bit-Crusher/6464-SampleX-V3
