As you may have heard, several music-related events and trade shows have been cancelled, including Musikmesse 2020 in Frankfurt and Superbooth 2020 in Berlin. According to their official statement, Moog has decided to release one of their most popular iOS virtual instruments as a free download to “spread positivity, creativity, and expressivity.”
And here is the press statement from Moog:
A gift to spread positivity, creativity, and expressivity. A moment to slow down, appreciate our innate strength, and experience the uplifting power of sound. A chance to share the way we hear the world around us …
… and if it moves you, express yourself – The Minimoog Model D iOS app is free for download right now.
I’ve been using the Minimoog Model D Synthesizer app for quite some time now on my iPad and it’s easily one of my favorite virtual synthesizers for the iOS platform. Everything about it is simply stunning, from the surprisingly realistic and analog-sounding synthesis engine to the gorgeous-looking user interface.
In addition to emulating the original Minimoog’s legendary sound character and features, the app offers a bank of over 160 presets, a polyphonic playing mode, a powerful arpeggiator, a handy stereo delay effect, and more. Another highlight is the looping recorder with dubbing functionality, perfect for capturing and sharing your musical ideas. And yes, the old filter overdrive trick is there, too.
The Minimoog Model D Synthesizer app was already a steal at $4.99 and it is an absolute must-have now that it’s free. Be sure to download your free copy of the app before humanity beats the Coronavirus pandemic and the kind people at Moog change their mind. Hopefully, this will all happen very soon.
In all seriousness, kudos to Moog for this epic freebie. It’s fantastic to be able to share some good news that will hopefully spark some musical inspiration among our readers.
