Spitfire Audio has released LABS Mandolin, a free mandolin sound library for the freeware LABS sound module plugin.
LABS Mandolin captures the full tonal range of a classic mandolin. The samples were recorded at Spitfire HQ studios, including a variety of articulations. The library features picked and fingered playing styles, along with tremolo and ensemble. It seems that the samples weren’t processed apart from standard editing, so you’re getting a clean and completely natural mandolin sound. This library is the follow-up to the previously released Granular Whalesong.

The user can choose between multiple articulations via the patch browser and adjust a few basic parameters like the output volume and reverb amount. And that’s pretty much it – a great sounding virtual instrument that’s super easy to tweak and play.
If you haven’t already, be sure to add LABS to your plugin arsenal. Since it was released back in 2018, the instrument quickly became a must-have tool in any musician’s collection of virtual instruments. With over a dozen top-quality and 100% free sound libraries, there’s no reason not to add LABS to your DAW. It puts a wide range of inspirational sounds at your fingertips, from soft pianos and string ensembles to experimental sounds and cinematic instruments.
