ML Sound Lab has released Amped Stevie T Free, a freeware guitar amp simulation plugin with a single amplifier model and four cabinet options.
Amped Stevie T Free is the freeware edition of ML Sound Lab’s new Amped Stevie T amp sim. The freeware version includes a single amplifier model called Djent God, designed by ML Sound Lab. The amp is primarily intended for high-gain guitar tones and use in heavier music styles like metal.

For added flexibility, the user can load custom cabinet impulse responses. It is also possible to turn off the cabinet simulation altogether and use an external cabinet simulator instead.
In contrast to its aggressive guitar tones, Amped Stevie T Free sports a charmingly lighthearted GUI design. The amp looks like a sketch on a piece of cardboard, and the look works surprisingly well. Kudos for a refreshing and cool interface design!
Users can fine-tune the guitar tone using the low, mid, high, and presence controls. The amp also features the input volume, gain, master volume, and output gain control knobs. The plugin comes with a simple pedalboard that includes four effects (reverb, delay, drive, and noise gate).
I’m not an avid guitar player, so I can’t review the quality of Amped Stevie T’s tone quality. However, guitar amps are often an unexpectedly good way to spice up a boring synth sound. With that in mind, it’s always worth checking out a new guitar amp plugin to consider adding it to your music production software arsenal.
Amped Stevie T Free is available in VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats for digital audio workstations on PC and Mac. Both 32-bit and 64-bit plugin hosts are supported. A standalone version of Amped Stevie T Free is also included in the download.
The full version of the Amped Stevie T (€59,99) plugin includes three additional custom amp models. You can test these models in the free version, too, albeit with a 30-second time limit.
Please note that a valid email address is required to complete the free checkout process. The download is a ZIP archive, which includes an auto-installer.

onYou all may throw rocks at me, but boy, do I hate Stevie T, I find him annoying and a complete opposite of funny. But that being said, he’s an outstanding guitarist and sound designer (guitar-wise).
