Acon Digital Releases FREE Verberate Basic Reverb VST Plugin

7

Acon Digital has introduced Verberate Basic, a freeware reverb effect in VST, AU, and AAX plugin formats based on the Verberate 2 algorithmic reverb engine.

Verberate Basic features four different reverb presets from the full version of Verberate 2. The available presets can not be modified. The user can adjust the amount of the reverb effect that is mixed with the signal using the Dry/Wet knob. The only other controls are on the user interface are the four buttons for selecting the active preset. The top bar also features Undo/Redo buttons and A/B testing switches.

The following four reverb presets are included with Verberate Basic:

  • Plate – a classic plate reverb with an airy sound that is suitable for used on vocals.
  • Room – a warm room reverb.
  • Hall – a natural-sounding hall reverb preset, usable for lead instruments.
  • Lush Hall – a large hall reverb with a lush sound, suitable for pads and background instruments.

The included reverb presets sound very good. The inability to modify the presets will certainly be an issue for advanced users. However, thanks to its high-quality sound and ease of use, Verberate Basic can work well as a simple plug-and-play reverb effect. It is similar to Reverb SOLO, a very popular freeware reverb plugin that was also developed by Acon Digital.

Verberate Basic is compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit digital audio workstation software on Windows and 64-bit only on Mac. You can download it for free from the product page linked below. The plugin does not require registration. Acon Digital released Verberate Basic in celebration of their NAMM TEC Awards nomination.

  1. So, it’s basically an advanced version of their older Reverb SOLO one knob reverb, just with the newer algorithms from Reverbate 2, right?

Seems so! But then again, I believe that the knob in Reverb SOLO is more of a macro. It adjusts multiple parameters at the same time. The knob in Verberate Basic is just a dry/wet mix control.
