I have a few drum VSTs, but was really impressed with the sound of this free plugin… I didn’t have to tweak anything to get the precise drum sound I’ve been looking for… and for free! YAY!

However, I began checking it out on various chat groups and I found a major downside. YOU CANNOT IMPORT MIDI DRUM PATTERNS INTO MODO DRUMS! … What IK gives you is what you have to work with… The only way of using Midi Packs from Groove Monkey and others is to actually drag the pattern into the Modo Drum track and see if you like it… That sucks…

did the ‘upgrade’ and all i got was three locked drum sets that i have to ignore for now.

am an IK fan, though…and yeah MODO drum is heavy on the CPU

In reply to Gery Zenz. It's more that I'm comparing an instrument that works well to an instrument that's unusably broken, something that you seem determined to misunderstand. I'm honestly glad if it's something that you'll get use out of, but it's an embarrassing shambles for me.

In reply to Alan Twelve. if you understand the difference then why are you comparing Modo Drums vs.Slate Drums? Doesn't make any sense! By the way 7-8% CPU on my machine (Intel Core i7-10700K). Is perfectly usable and sounds damn good!

I understand the difference between “utterly unusable” and “sounds good”. What are you trying to say here? That Modo Drums isn’t maxing out my CPU and I somehow don’t understand? It doesn’t matter how much they’re “physically modelling” – this is unusable. It’s embarrasing.

Keep in mind that you need a CPU with AVX instructions for MODO Drum. If you don’t have it, the installer won’t even run.
